This container made out of netting was used by members of the governing class for storing their clothes. It is assumed that the governing class of the Yayoi period kingdoms possessed clothing for public events and ceremonies in addition to their daily wear. In the Yayoi period, when clothes woven from cloth required great effort, such garments were thought to be very precious, and important in displaying status. Netting containers containing clothing have been discovered in maoutaibo graves of wives of regional officials of Han period China. This container was restored by referring to a maoutaibo container.
