The Gishiwajinden, which describes the kingdoms of ancient Japan, reports that polygamy was common in ancient Japan. Based on this, it is assumed that the governing class, who enjoyed an economic surplus, had a number of wives, and that the king who lived in the Yoshinogari settlement also had a number of wives. There are two houses located deep inside the special area. The house at the front was set up as the residence for the king’s second wife and children.
