Market Storehouses - Manufactured Goods

Ancient Chinese markets had market storehouses to store the materials traded at the market. The markets of the Yayoi kingdom probably also had market storehouses. The relatively small raised structures grouped on the southern side of the market tower in the center are assumed to be the market storehouses. These structures were storage areas for items manufactured in the Yoshinogari moat-enclosed settlement such as textiles, tools, containers and farming implements, which were gathered at the market for the purpose of exchange.
